This is from the 1991 Canadian Winter National Championships in Calgary, AB. The meet was held at the Lindsay Park Pool which is now known as the Repsol Sports Centre.
Up until March of 1991 the fastest of times done in a 25m (short course) pool were recorded and recognized as "World Bests" by FINA. Mark's time of 52.89 held until about a week or so later when he officially broke the "World's Record" in a time of 52.71 at the World Cup in Germany (16 March 1991). He later dropped the mark down to 52.58 at another World Cup stop in the UK at the very end of the month (29 March 1991).
