How do you clean up honey and wax from any harvesting or beekeeping equipment? Easy! Just give it back to the bees.
You should never give honey from an unknown source to your bees. But you can always give their own back to them. Simply put the honey laden equipment, frames, tools, or wax on top of a strong colony in its own box over an inner cover. This will prevent other bees from robbing the colony, and allow the colony to clean up every last drop.
Open feeding, which is placing feed out in the open for any bees to rob, is illegal in California and other states. It is an excellent way to spread disease and parasites among bees and promote robbing in your apiary. Never open feed.
