St. Vincent's "three-dimensional" breast tomosynthesis unit is a new FDA approved technology used to detect breast cancer. This 3-D mammography unit gives radiologists the ability to examine breast tissue one layer at a time, pinpointing small tumors that might not be seen on a regular mammogram, especially in dense breasts. Housed within St. Vincent's SWIM Women's Imaging Center, this new 3-D technology offers women the best chance to detect breast cancer at its earliest, most curable stage.
