Protesters in the streets, danger of "white backlash," a controversial President, an imminent national election -- all these elements invite comparison to 1968. Yet are there important differences between then and now? In a conversation about the two eras, discussants will share experiences of protest. In both periods the struggle for civil rights has featured prominently, but has also occurred against the background of other crises -- the Vietnam War back then and the pandemic now. Do we see a positive route going forward? And what role can individuals play in the struggles ahead?
