I’ve always wanted to check this house out. This old farmhouse is located in Sanford, Florida in Orange Blvd and I came to find out it’s one of Seminole County’s oldest standing homes.
Me and my daughter visited this house built in 1874 in August of 2021. It is located on the property of a modern church called City Church, directly next to a always mowed soccer field.
When I pulled into the church to have a look at this house, I wasn’t expecting to find out that a murder suicide happened inside the home back in September 1893. A wife named Annie Balsley killed her husband by shooting him in the temple while he was sleeping. 24 to 48 hours, she shot herself in the heart. Both were found dead inside of the house, which was surrounded by the Orange groves that made them wealthy.
The Balsley house currently sits in Sanford, FL, but it was in the process of being dismantled. The owner of the property noticed us around the house and came over to investigate. He was a very friendly guy, who shared some interesting pieces of knowledge about this house.
The address to The Balsley House is believed to be 1855 Orange Blvd Sanford, FL 32771 in Seminole County Central Florida. The house’s address was once in Paola Florida and part of Orange County.
We were lucky enough to film this video days before the house was gone forever. I hope this video gives us all a pathway to look back to Central florida history and Sanford Florida’s history that is gone forever but not forgotten.
