The Father of the 747, Joe Sutter, sadly passed away yesterday at age 95. Without his airplane, who can imagine what life would be like? The jumbo jet brought the world closer with long-haul flights, reinvented the standards by which others are compared to, and become a favourite of travellers across the globe. Sutter left behind a legacy, with hundreds of 747's flying every day. The most iconic airliner in history, with it's famous hump, will live in our hearts forever. If you love the "Queen of the Skies" as much as I do, smash the like button below!
Here we see one of the many 747's still in service, the only one belonging to RAM. This particular aircraft has a dark history... In January 1995, while de-icing with the engines running, the pilots released the brakes thinking the ground crews had left the area. When the 747 rolled forward, it's right horizontal stabilizer tipped over a de-icing truck still spraying the rear fuselage, killing three workers. The accident resulted in new rules governing de-icing practices around the world. I hope you enjoy!
