Theresa May is waiting to hear from EU leaders who are discussing her request for a short delay to Brexit.
However some leaders indicated earlier they were ready to back European Council president Donald Tusk's proposal of a long extension to Article 50.
ITV News Political Correspondent Paul Brand said there has been "different opinions in the room about the length of the extension".
Mrs May has asked for a delay beyond this Friday to June 30, with a break clause allowing the UK to leave as soon as Parliament has ratified her Withdrawal Agreement.
