VICTORIA - Kristy Falconer opened her own daycare after finding her sons had several disappointing experiences in the care of someone else. And when Kristy came down with H1N1 and her husband in the Navy was away, she saw an even greater need for emergency daycare.
Kristy's KD Family Playcare now has four traditional daycare spots and three spaces for emergencies. Kristy says most emergencies involved taking the place of a sick/vacationing daycare provider and in some cases parents bring their children who are not thriving in another environment.
Kristy would like other stay-at-home parents to consider becoming certified so that working parents have options when their current daycare situation is no longer reliable -- either in the short or long-term.
