Dingoes are important in maintaining the environmental health of Australian landscapes. Increasing evidence from scientific research and from on-ground observations by land managers show that they control kangaroos and eradicate feral goats, preventing over-grazing. They also control other herbivore pests (feral pigs and rabbits) and feral carnivores (cats and foxes).
Increasing numbers of graziers acknowledge the distinct business advantages of maintaining Dingo populations on their properties: fewer competing kangaroos and feral animals in the landscape lead to greater pasture production, enabling management of total grazing pressure in individual paddocks. There is also little or no cost and time spent in persecuting Dingoes.
Dingoes are essential for recovering the country, and they're going to be essential moving into the future, so we can manage the country with a more ecologically grazing model.
