Saint Francis Borgia, a young nobleman at the court of the King of Spain born October 28, 1510, in Gandia, Spain. He served as the third superior general of the Jesuits for seven years and devoted himself to revising the Society's rules, expanding its missions in India and the Americas, and shepherding the growth of the young Society where he is often regarded as the second founder of the Jesuits. He died on September 30, 1572, in Rome, Italy.
Trivia:
The first Jesuit school founded by the Society of Jesus was opened in 1548 in Messina, Sicily just a little over 450 years ago, with just ten members.
