In footage of the event, Black is seen presenting his Tenacious D band member Kyle Gass with a birthday cake before asking him to “make a wish”.
KG then said, “Don’t miss Trump next time”, causing the crowd to erupt. One audience member said “You could hear a couple of ‘oohhs’ - like too soon sort of vibes - but the vast majority was laughter.”
While several fans praised KG’s comment, others online have called it a “bad joke”.
