THE 80s LEGEND
When it comes to enthusiast vehicles, few are as sought after or as celebrated as homologation specials. Homologated to only 500 units, under the hood it was equipped with the brand’s top-of-the-line 4-cylinder 2.5-16V Engine developed by Cosworth producing 235 hp at a screaming 7,600 RPM. The car was directly derived from the model that raced in the German touring car championship, the much-celebrated Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM). It also sported an imposing rear spoiler that considerably boosted down-force and road-holding, 17-inch alloy wheels that were directly inherited from the DTM race car.
The DTM touring-car racing series also featured historical epic battles between the 1st BMW E30 M3 and the Mercedes-Benz 190E, both were constantly escalating their entries' power and aerodynamics. This car also started the partnership of Mercedes and AMG where AMG entered the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II in its first race on the Nordschleife (North Loop) of the Nürburgring on June 16, 1990. Klaus Ludwig clinched the DTM champion's title in 1992 with the works car prepared by AMG, with Mercedes-Benz topping the brand ratings.
These race-bred machines help to change the line between the road and the racetrack, while limited production numbers have always hit the right nodes among avid car collectors. The Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II is one of the most iconic of all the homologation racers.
The Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II was only available as a left hand drive with 5 speed dog-leg manual gearbox. Recent years, the price of these cars were sold as high as USD 475,000 or RM2 Million for the concourse units and averaging RM1.5 Million at international car auctions. While that is beyond the reach of many, the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II is quite simply one of the coolest sedans ever built.
THE CONCEPT
As the prices of the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II are beyond the reach of many and available only in left-hand drives, Project 190E-EVO2 is to take standard Mercedes 190E 2.5-16V base car and restomod it to the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II look with a touch of modern and retro build.
By restomoding, the vehicle will have a modern look of carbon finishing for interiors, top of the range tartan fabrics to capture the retro era, plasma meter dial face, modern audio system with USD and Bluetooth, Alcantara interior, premium leather seats, modern 18 in alloy wheels, fully adjustable suspension, led lights, a custom made refined EVO 2 body kit, custom header, custom moon roof and more. The concept is to create an iconic heritage car with modern features.
PROJECT 190E-EVO2 – THE 80S LEGEND
After 10,000 hours of work on the base car and over a period of 2 years, Project 190E-EVO2 is done. The result is just stunning from every angle. Painted with 613 Custom’s custom solid black with paint correction and ceramic coating done by AUTO FINESSE Kota Kinabalu, one of the best-detailing products in the world. The engine bay is completely stripped and repainted and body panels are modified to fit 18 in staggered rims. 8 in x 18 at the front with 215/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 and 9 in x 18 with 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 at the rear giving it an awesome stance. A custom tilting 3-way function glass sunroof is also fitted. Carbon rear wing ducktail, carbon front bumper lips, carbon door parts, dashboard, carbon gear center panels were also done perfectly. Door cards were also meticulously restored to their original glory. The original factory front and back RECARO seats were also restored with premium leather and tartan checked retro fabrics imported from the USA to match the retro era. New emblems were also fitted and restored the famous lap meter in the Netherlands. The custom plasma dial face is also one of the best features of this build. Custom made in Poland with AMG logo this dial will set it apart from the original Evolution II cars as it lids up at night defining the true essence of a RESTOMOD. It will put a smile on your face with great led lighting and a great sounding 7 in flip-up LCD Pioneer car audio system. With a push of a button, the screen will flip up from a retro console to show the modern equipment and can be close and hidden for a retro look when not needed.
This car is available for viewing upon request and we are offering this exciting build for RM198,000.00 or USD47,500. Worldwide shipping available.
