Germ-free mice have become the gold standard for researchers focused on understanding the microbiome. Compared to conventional mice, germ-free mice are unique in that they are completely devoid of microorganisms (e.g., bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi etc.) and they are housed in a tightly controlled environment to prevent contamination. Germ-free mice have become essential animal models for microbiome research, but also for studies focused on drug discovery, microbiology, and biomedical research.

To accelerate the advancement of microbiome research and its important implications for human disease and drug discovery, GemPharmatech has pioneered innovative approaches to generate germ-free mice in-house.
