Learn how to build decorative coved picture frames in this step by step woodworking video. I will use 2x4's to create these frames and I will begin by first cutting a cove in each frame piece. This video will focus on many picture frame woodworking techniques, and tips that you can use to successfully build picture frames with coves. I have had great experience building picture frames with the methods shown in this video and I think you will find them very helpful for your woodworking. After I create the coves, I will cut 45-degree miters and glue the frame together with a band clamp. I have many videos on my channel that pertain to cutting perfect 45-degree miters so don't forget to check those out! This video will also show you some great examples of how I use various woodworking machines to build these decorative picture frames! Next, I create a decorative inside mini-frame, mount picture frame hardware onto the frame and inlay polyethylene material, a matted photo, and a wooden back piece to finish up this decorative frame. I think you will find the proces of how to add on mouinting hardware onto the back of the picture frame especially useful. I have found great use for metal joiner hardware for the mitered corners and I really like using d-rings and picture frame wire to mount the picture frame on the wall. Picture frame D-rings and picture frame hanging wire are, in my opinion, the best way to hang a picture frame! I hope you enjoy learning the steps that I take to complete this process.
