This video describes how physicians in rural settings throughout the world can provide the highest quality care for their COVID-19 patients at minimal cost. On very short notice (1 week) Dr. Gautam Kalaytanda of the University of Florida and Dr. Amrit Nanaiah created a rural inpatient facility in Karnataka, India. A standardized management plan for COVID-19 patients in rural settings is described and examples of telemedicine presentations to Infectious Diseases specialists Dr. Kalaytanda and Dr. Fred Southwick are shared. Hospital length of stay (4.5 days) and clinical outcomes (1.5% mortality) have exceeded expectations.
