THREE SEMLAS TO TRY IN STOCKHOLM 🥰🇸🇪
Shrove Tuesday or Fettisdagen as we say it in Sweden is right around the corner and I’ve been trying a few really delicious semla’s. Make sure to check this out so you know where to go for your mandatory seasonal semla.
FEATURED SEMLAS
1. The classic semla at Haga Bageri
This was the winner in this year’s semla test by @thatsupsthlm. Although I get that it’s a tasty and beautiful semla, I actually think I’ve had quite a few better ones. For me, it comes down to the bun itself. Although it wasn’t dry, it was also not soft enough for my liking. It gets 3,5/5.
2. The semla at Bergstrands Bageri
This is one of my absolute favorite bakeries in Stockholm and I’m quite the returning customer. They have plenty of good semla choices but their classic semla is beyond perfect. The almond cream – bun – whipped cream ratio is perfect and the bun is just as soft as it should be. Every bite is exciting and it’s not too big or heavy. 5/5.
3. The classic semla at Konditori Santa Fe
This one required quite the excursion for me but I was open to leave the inner city if the semla was good enough. Although the bun was soft and nice here, I found the almond cream to be bland and not very exciting. The semla was okay, but lacked those delicious final touches that some places manage to include that takes it to the next level. Such as the perfect whipped cream consistency, a really soft bun, and some actual crispy almonds in the almond cream to make it more fun. 2,5/5.
What is your favorite semla? Let me know in the comments? Also, if you don’t eat semla, I’d love to know what your favorite pastry is!
