This is a great clip of what happens when you bring the bucks back home after a visit to the ladies.
What you are seeing is the dominance game. It has to be acted out at all times. Some of it is posturing and some of it is really beating on each other.
The Big guy, "Red", is the one that is hanging back. He will wait and thump whoever wins. He is also the first sire I used for my herd. He is a big polled 50/50 Nubian Boer.
Oliver is the Buck I used this year (Red's son). He is in the video having it out with the wether. He is polled and came out as perfect and healthy a young buck as you could wish for.
If you look at Oliver's fur vs. Red and the wether you will notice that he looks a little ratty. After he serviced my girls he went to his next assignment and they had the goats shut up for the winter. They thought it was best for the goats but what happens often is a kind of cough or pneumonia. He got by o.k. but lost some of the thick fur he had at my place. Animals do better with some shelter from the wind, snow, and rain but they don't do well shut up. They need airflow. As well as clean fresh water and food.
