The naturalist Gilbert White was born in 1720. In this illustrated talk, recorded in lockdown at the end of 2020, historian Peter Hounsell speaks about White's life, his Selborne home, his importance as a pioneering observer of the natural world, and why his book, The Natural History of Selborne, has remained in print ever since it was published. He also explains the Ealing connection with White and Selborne.
