Knuckles of Frisco, an Indie rock band with a sound all of their own. Varying from mellow acoustic numbers to real rock songs, from atmospheric to intimate. The songs often having dark lyrics, Koert van Essen has the ability to express the whole scale of emotions in his singing. Surprising elements such as an accordion and keyboard samples and electronics, complement each other to produce the unique distinctive sound of Knuckles of Frisco.

The band has many influences. For the lyrics, Lou Reed, Tom Waits and Nick Cave have been a source of inspiration. The lead vocals are influenced by the dramatic expressions of the Veils and at other moments by the rawness of Mr. Springsteen himself. Equally bands such as Motorpsycho and Muse have been an inspiration throughout the years. However, comparisons have become very difficult since the "knuckles" have their own sound made unique by their own creativity.

An Indie band with many faces; Rock, Blues, Cajun, Americana and more. With a strong rhythm section as the driving force of the music, creative guitar work, the different moods in the vocals, electronics and accordion, create the unique "Knuckles" sound. The band has had a start that others could only dream of. Winners of various pop prizes and big stage performances at home and abroad. Positive acclaim in the media.

Radio performances (eg. 3FM) have contributed to the fast rise for this band from Arnhem, since their first performances in 2011. Among their successes; Emergenza Festival 2011, best band from the Benelux, Taubertal festival, last 16 finals in Germany. They have also performed in Paris (Gibus Club), Park Open Arnhem, Festival "De Affaire Nijmegen", 013 Tilburg, Pop Price SVS Live Music Award 2011 winners and the Easter Concerts in the Jacobiberg 2012... And lately the release of their debut album in the sold out Luxor Live Theater in Arnhem.
