Here some footage of gas sampling at SALAK Geothermal Plant in the Awibengkok geothermal field in West Java, Indonesia. Gas is extracted from the pipe system and flushed through copper tubes that are then sealed with clamps to create a cold welding. The copper prevents diffusion of even the lightest of elements, like helium, which is notoriously difficult to contain. The samples have been analyzed for carbon and helium isotopes and the results are available in the PhD thesis of Lara Blythe.
