Why nobody wants this piece of land ?!
Back in 1899 this area was a British colony and that was the time when Britain decided to separate Egypt from Sudan with this straight border line.
In 1902, Britain changed it’s mind and decided to redraw the border line. This meant that Egypt would give this piece of land called Hala’ib Triangle to Sudan, and this tiny piece of land called BIR TAWIL remained in Egypt.
Since both countries want the Hala’ib region very bad, they both recognize different borders. Egypt recognize the 1899 border, while Sudan recognize the 1902 border.
This made Bir Tawil to remain unclaimed by any country. If it will be recognized by any of the sides, this will mean that they agree of giving up Hala’ib triangle to the other. But…
