FPOK was formed in Surabaya in 1940 as the Gouvernement Instituut voor Lichamelijke Oefeningen (GEVLO), a higher sports education institution. In 1964, the name was changed to Sports College (STO), and it was absorbed into IKIP Bandung, which is now UPI. FPOK was renamed the Faculty of Sports and Health Education on June 20, 1983. This 70-year journey has established FPOK as a prominent institution in sports, health, and physical activity.
