This year, the Department of Defense issued the first ever National Defense Industrial Strategy (NDIS) which is working to catalyze generational change to a more robust, resilient, and dynamic modernized defense industrial ecosystem. Dr. Cynthia R. Cook, the Director of CSIS’s Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group (DIIG) will host the Honorable Dr. Laura D. Taylor-Kale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy (ASD(IBP)), for a fireside chat to discuss NDIS implementation as part of the release of the new National Defense Industrial Strategy Implementation Plan (NDIS-IP).
The NDIS has four strategic priorities to support a strong defense industrial base. These are resilient supply chains, workforce readiness, flexible acquisition and economic deterrence. The conversation will cover investments and future plans for each of these priorities, highlighting both the opportunities for transformation and the concerning strategic risks and future challenges if the defense industrial base is neglected.
This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
