THE ADVENTURES OF LUTHER ARKWRIGHT was serialized in NEAR MYTHS 1-5 1978-1980. His first appearance was in Brain Storm Comix Mixed Bunch Vol. 1 #3 (Winter 1976), The Luther character in Brain Storm is a Jerry Cornelius type and the artwork was meant to imitate that by Richard Corben. The Luther Arkwright we see afterward, though, in Near Myths is substantially different and there is no continuity between that character and the one in Brain Storm.
*In 1981/82 French comic magazine PSST! reprinted Near Myth's episodes and continued the story. By 1982 the first trade paperback with an introduction by Michael Moorcock was released collecting all the episodes published at the time. In 1987 UK Valkyrie Press allowed Talbot to complete the series. Two more trade paperback volumes were published with introductions by Ramsey Campbell and Ian Banks. In 1990 U.S. Dark Horse reprinted the Valkyrie Press material.
