On Thursday 13th October 2016, Burrs Country Park Station was officially opened on the East Lancashire Railway. The first passenger train to call at this new station was the 08:45 service from Bury which was hauled by Flying Scotsman. Invited guests were on board to travel the official opening of the station. Guests were also waiting on the platform to see the arrival of Flying Scotsman and to witness the official opening.
