In this week’s episode of Raising Babies’ 101, we discuss Bribing vs Rewarding Children. Is there a difference between a bribe and a reward? In both instances, your child is getting something for doing what you want them to do. The question we pose to our experts is, when is this helpful in teaching him better behavior, and when is it harmful?
We ask our parents and caregivers on the street is the cultural practice of chasing children from the house still okay?
This is an age old practice of "chasing away children to go play" after eating. In the olden days children would go visit friends, go to shops or the river side and play for the whole day until it was time to go back home and eat again. This can be interpreted as a right that children had and looked forward to however in our modern times this practice can expose the child to unwanted dangers.
Our in-studio demonstration is “How To” cure nasal congestion. Nasal congestion happens when the tissues inside the nose swell or produce mucus. Nasal congestion is more bothersome in newborns, as they are actually nasal breathers from the early neonatal period to about 2 months of age. Their sleep can be disturbed by it or might have a hard time feeding as a result.
