Rabindranath Tagore is an inseparable part of the entire Bengali Diaspora all over the world. This particular compilation of Rabindra Sangeet or Tagore Songs along with oration of some Writings of Tagore is a tribute to one of the biggest inspiration in Tagore’s life, Kadambari Devi. Kadambari Devi was the wife of Jyotirindranath Tagore and daughter-in-law of Debendranath Tagore. She was nine years younger than her husband, whom she married on 5 July 1868, when she was only 10 years old. Jyotirindranath Tagore arranged for her to be educated. She was nearly the same age as his brother Rabindranath Tagore (2 years elder). She inspired young Rabindranath in composing many of his poems with her creative feedback and comments. She was also a good friend and playmate. She was one of the women who played a very important part in his life. Her relationship with Tagore was controversial, and has been a recurrent topic of discussion for many generations. This compilation album is an audio tribute to this magnificent lady through various Tagore Songs and various writings from that era that describes Kadambari Devi. Amongst various notable writers whose writings have been cited here are Jyotirindranath Tagore and Rabindranath Tagore himself. Through various writings of Tagore the magnificent character of Kadambari Devi is sketched. For reasons that have not been revealed, Kadambari Devi committed suicide on April 1884, four months after Rabindranath Tagore married. The Tagore family always remained silent about her suicide. Rumors of family problems having led to her suicide have circulated. After Kadambari Devi's death, Rabindranath was completely broken. For long after her death, he wrote many songs and poems in memory of her.
This compilation album primarily showcases the huge influence of Kadambari Devi on various creations of Tagore. Many of Tagore’s works are dedicated to his favorite “Notun Bouthaan” or new sister in law. Overall through many Rabindra Sangeets and many orations this dramatic audio tribute to Kadambari devi is a listener’s delight and takes one to the beautiful creative and magical world of Tagore’s masterpiece creations.
