India and France have deepened their defense collaboration, particularly in the development of nuclear-powered attack submarines under the Project 75 Alpha program. This project, which aims to build six nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs), is a significant step toward boosting India's naval capabilities. While India is focusing on indigenous development for these submarines, France has offered non-nuclear technology, including design elements and propulsion systems from their Barracuda-class submarines. This partnership enhances India’s maritime defense while keeping key elements, such as the nuclear reactor, domestically produced.
