Federal ministers Jean-Yves Duclos (procurement), François-Phillipe Champagne (science) and Dominic LeBlanc (public safety) speak with reporters on Parliament Hill following the release of Auditor General Karen Hogan's latest reports.
The first report focused on whether the federal government obtained “value for money” through its contracts with McKinsey & Company. Hogan's office finds a flouting of rules by the federal government when it comes to the awarding of contracts to the consulting firm. The second audit finds significant lapses in the handling of federal funding by Sustainable Development Technology Canada. The final report outlines the lack of capacity and tools of the RCMP, CSE, the CRTC, and Public Safety Canada to adequately combat cybercrimes.
In response to the audit on Sustainable Development Technology Canada, Minister Champagne announces the decision for the green fund to be folded into National Research Council of Canada.
