The Monterey County district attorney is investigating what has been described as an accidental fatal shooting in whic an off-duty Santa Cruz officer killed a bystander and shot himself while cleaning his gun.
Santa Cruz officer Francisco Villicana was cleaning his personal gun Friday in Salinas when he mistakenly fired the single round that killed Luis Alfredo Ferro-Sanchez, police said.
