Although horses have been used by the Civil Guard from its earliest days, the Mounted Squad was only created in 1958.
This is a specialised Mounted Unit entrusted with the same tasks as the Standby and Security Group, but adjusted to their characteristics and working methods.
The Squad also takes part in ceremonial events as part of its long honourable and distinguished history within the Force.
