► More than 1,000 inmates have been released from prisons in England and Wales today to free up space.
Offenders serving more than five years are now being let out on licence after spending 40%, rather than half of their sentence behind bars.
It's the second emergency release since September and the government's today admitted the whole service is in crisis.
