This is the part 2 of the three part series of the Vasco da Gama's epic first sea voyage or journey to India to discover and establish the direct maritime trade route to East for the Portuguese Crown.
In Nov 1497, after doubling the dangerous Cape of Good Hope, Gama entered in the massive Mosel Bay, in the Indian Ocean. And after a brief stay and interaction with local tribes and replenishing the supplies from store ship, they ventured out south in the new areas of Indian Ocean. In this horizon, no European had ever adventured. This was the result of decade of preparations and years of imaginations of Portuguese. and It was a dream that comes true. Here, they encountered their main rivals Muslims first time in the journey at Mozambique and then at Mombasa. It was the most dangerous side of the journey which Gama sailed through intelligently. However, they found a friendly Muslim Sultan at Malindi who helped them in voyaging to India by providing an experienced Guajarati Pilot for navigating them to Calicut, their ultimate destination. Gama was lucky that they have reached at right season in East Coast of Africa as they ride on the SW monsoon wind in Arabian sea to sail fast to India at Calicut.
