A reading of Rudyard Kipling's short story "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi", one of those several from The Jungle Book. The 1975 Chuck Jones Rikki-Tikki-Tavi cartoon was one of my all-time childhood favorites (with many watches on an old VHS tape), and I was delighted to discover somewhere down the line that the original story was brimming with the same wonderful substance and tone that I had loved as a boy: both Kipling's original story and the cartoon based on it are jaunty and adventurous at a turn, but then ominous and violent at the very next. Both fit firmly in the pantheon of great tales unabashed of high adventure and desperate stakes. This reading is intended as a reverse audiobook homage, using the original story, to that brilliant cartoon.
