ACADEMIC LECTURE: Understanding the Challenges to Democracy Today

How can democracy be strengthened in a way that goes beyond clinging precariously to a fraying centrist compromise? I use historical and geographical comparisons to suggest that the supposed trilemma of democracy, sovereignty and globalization is a false notion. If we truly understand constant trade-offs between all three, we can use and enhance all three productively and imaginatively all the same time.
