Fabric pils show up as little fabric balls that sit ontop of your garments. They are most commonly seen on knit garments and only pose a visual hindrance.

They can be removed pretty easily with disposable razors, pumice based depilling combs, and electric buzzers (the most fun way in my opinion and also not pictures :L). Simply brush/scrap away and collect the removed pills with your hands or a lint brush / roller.

P&G claims that fabric softener can prevent pilling.
