A showdown at the U.S. southern border is ongoing between local authorities in Texas and the federal government over to handle the influx of migrants.

Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott has instituted what's known as "Operation Lone Star" -- a nearly three-year-old initiative to deter migrants from illegally crossing into the U.S. That has included installing razor wire along the banks of the Rio Grande, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled this week that federal Border Patrol agents could take down the wiring.
