Filmed at Folly Farm Adventure Park, Kilgetty on June 5th 2019.
Manufactured by RG Mitchell (as the name might suggest!), this train was one of their classic rides, released in the early 1990s. The model is an updated version of R J Newborough's Rio Grande, presumably bought from the company during one of Newborough's many company shutdowns. The RGM Express became far more popular than the Rio Grande though and could be seen just about everywhere in the UK back in the '90s, outside shops, arcades, cafes... It seems such a familiar sight (and I'm sure I can't be the only 90s kid who feels that way!), and yet even these seem to be nothing but a fading memory nowadays with just the odd, very bashed up example popping up on e-Bay occasionally.
With authentic train sounds and a flashing light on the front, this engine came in a wide variety of different colours, red and white seeming to be the favourites. "R.G.M. Express" was written on the side of the engine by default, but this could be personalised. I recall these being outside a lot of Tesco stores, always with "Tesco Express" written on the side, for instance.
