Colonel Gaddafi's forces have ended their assault on the rebel town of Misratah after two months of fighting.
The Libyan regime has promised to pardon any rebels wishing to leave the area -- but only if they are prepared to recognise the government's authority.
Despite the apparent retreat, machine gun fire and explosions were heard in the city last night, as NATO carried out more airstrikes.
