It is an instrumental ensemble piece composed by Huang Yijun for an album produced by EMI Records and Entertainment Ltd. It was untitled at the time of composing. Chen Zhong, a member of the traditional Chinese music troupe, later named it "Blooming Flowers and Full Moon" for its joyfulness and festiveness. Shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the melody was adapted into an influential folk orchestral music by the conductor Peng Xiuwen.
《花好月圆》是黄贻钧为百代唱片制作的一张民乐唱片所作的一首民乐合奏曲目。因为当时写作时没有标题，国乐队的陈中根据乐曲欢快热烈的气氛，为它起了《花好月圆》的名字。新中国成立后不久，指挥家彭修文就把江南丝竹式的《花好月圆》改编为民族管弦乐，影响甚广。
