In June of 2024, the world marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. If the coverage inspired you to look into making a trip to Northern France, this video should get you started with your planning.
Utah Beach, the western-most landing point on D-Day, is now home to a museum and 80-year-old military equipment.
There are 100 monuments and museums in the area.
A metallic monument to the lost, called "The Braves" stands at Omaha Beach.
All 5 landing beaches are within a one-hour drive of each other.
Getting to Normandy is very easy. You can take a tour from Paris, or take a road trip. Rather than rent a car and navigate through Paris, I'd suggest taking the train north to Caen. You'll find car rental options right at the train station in the small city. From here, it's an easy, enjoyable ride through Normany.
Other sites to see include the ancient abbey, Mont St. Michel, which the Nazis used as a lookout during WWII. Etretat and Honfleur are also worth spending time in.
Normandy welcomes 2 million people every year to the various WWII-related sites, including the Normandy American Cemetery, where 9,387 Americans are buried.
