A wedding celebration in Lucknow took a violent turn when a group of Lucknow University (LU) hostellers gatecrashed the event and launched a violent rampage. The incident occurred on Monday night during the wedding of a BJP leader’s relative at Ramadheen Inter College, located near the LU campus.
According to police reports, a group of 20-30 LU hostellers infiltrated the baraat (wedding procession) and began participating in the festivities, including dancing and enjoying the feast. Suspicious of their behavior, members of the bride's family confronted them, leading to a shocking escalation of violence.
Instead of leaving or apologizing, the students attacked the wedding guests with bricks, stones, and crude bombs. Witnesses reported that the assailants misbehaved with women, fired shots into the air, and caused widespread panic at the venue. The chaos intensified as more accomplices of the gatecrashers arrived armed with pistols and additional crude bombs.
By the time the attackers fled the scene, around 20 individuals, including wedding guests, were injured. Six of them required hospitalization for their injuries. The venue was left ransacked, and the celebrations were ruined.
Police have since registered an FIR against unidentified individuals but have yet to make any arrests. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.
