(14 Sep 1994) The trial of Bernadette and Adrian Mooney, a British couple
caught attempting to smuggle a five-year-old girl out of Romania,
resumed in Bucharest on Wednesday (14/9). The trial had been
adjourned for two weeks to enable the child's parents to find a
lawyer.
Romanian authorities arrested the Mooneys on July 6 at the border
between Romania and Hungary, after finding the child hidden under
a blanket on the backseat of the car the couple were driving.
