Storm (Niels Robitzky) of Battle Squad (Germany) talks about his journey in hip hop dance from his early life to present day. Storm is not only a legendary bboy to those who know of his epic career in dance, but also a walking, talking fountain of knowledge and inspiration of hip hop culture.

About Niels 'Storm' Robitsky
A pioneer of hip hop dance, Storm started b-boying, popping and locking at the age of 14. He started his professional career in 1984. With his first crew Battle Squad he started to tour worldwide. His first theatre work was realised with Ghettoriginal (1992-1995).

Storm lives in Berlin since 1993 where he founded The Storm & Jazzy Project in 1996 which toured throughout Europe. In 2001 he presented his solo Solo For Two with almost 200 performances worldwide and still touring, such as his works Storm... in classical context and 28 Years in 28 Minutes.

As a pioneer and charismatic artist, Storm collaborates with dancers around the world through commissioned works. His profound knowledge of hip hop culture and erudite vision are more and more required: his dance teaching and jury activities are completed by research projects and panel talks.

Storm wrote his book From Swipe to Storm in 2000. In 2015, he participated at the research project Unpacking Performativity at atEZ Arnhem, leading to a symposium and a publication.
