The Best of Trucking (What’s to Love About Driving a Truck. A truck driving job isn’t a perfect job. It has it’s faults, like any job. But there are some pretty terrific things about driving a truck for a living. In this video, we’ll talk about some of the BEST OF TRUCKING. The BEST part of a truck driving job.

1. Travel and Opportunity. Drivers have the chance to go places and see things that they normally wouldn’t have the time to visit or could afford a vacation to see some of these sites and attractions. Drivers can book off an extra day or so, or on a layover and do a little site seeing tour on the side.
Seeing some of the best parts of North America like the Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico. the Arizona Desert, the Salt Flats of Utah, terrific sunrises and sunsets. There’s nothing quite like it.

2. Plenty of Jobs. There are an abundance of truck driving jobs in North America. There are jobs for
- long distance trucking
- short haul
- regional or local
- different classes of licensing jobs
- reefer hauling, flat bedding, tanker work, dump trailers, speciality freight and many more.
There are thousands of trucking companies in North America specializing in various types of trucking, with different pay packages, freight lanes. Lots to choose from.

And where else can you get a job, (after a short training stint) and be earning reasonably decent money, without the time or financial investment of getting a college or university degree?

3. The Love of the Drive, Love the Trucks. If you’re one of those people who finds driving relaxing and enjoyable, then you’ll make a hell of a good truck driver. The miles esp. for an OTR driver, seem to pass quickly. Truck driving is well MOSTLY about driving a truck, so those of us who are hooked on enjoying the drive, are definitely in the right profession!
Closely tied into loving to drive, is the love of big trucks. The big trucks, the sound of the jake, the smell of diesel. It’s all part of the package that goes along with lovin’ the drive.
I remember seeing those big trucks many years ago, with all the lights and chrome, headed to the West Coast. I knew right then and there, that’s what I wanted to.

4. The Freedom. Closely tied to the love of driving, is the element of freedom of the job. Granted, we don’t experience the freedom we once did as professional drivers, a few decades ago, but there’s still more freedom in driving a truck for a living, than there is in working in a factory or an office.
Driving on the open road on a sunny day in Nebraska, in the summer? Nothing else can compare.

For those folks who
don’t care for office politics,
like to keep their contact with other people to a minimum
and can’t stand the thoughts of being micromanaged and the supervisor hanging over their shoulder
trucking can be an ideal profession.

From the Rookies fresh out of CDL school to you Salty Old Dogs, with Millions of Miles under your belt,
