New hormone therapies are changing the game for ER-positive breast cancer treatment. Hormone therapy transformed the treatment of ER-positive breast cancer when it was first introduced over 25 years ago, and standard of care hormone therapy for early ER-positive breast cancer has remained unchanged for the past 20 years. Now, researchers are looking at new hormone therapies for early ER-positive breast cancer, with the hope of making this revolutionary type of treatment even better. In this episode of Breast Cancer Breakthroughs, we speak with former Komen grantee Dr. Sean Fanning to explain the significance of hormone therapy in breast cancer. We also speak with medical oncologist Dr. Priya Rastogi about the latest clinical trials testing new hormone therapies in early ER-positive breast cancer.
