A key figure in Victoria's pandemic response, Professor Brett Sutton
has apologised for the harm caused by the state's tough COVID-19 restrictions.
Professor Sutton is resigning from his position with the State Government, to take up a new job with the CSIRO.
As chief health officer, Professor Sutton became one of the faces of Victoria’s health response throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering daily case numbers and health updates in widely watched press conferences.
It was a pivotal, powerful, and often controversial role, and he says at times the pressure was immense.
