Rachel Reeves will present her first Budget as UK's first female chancellor to the House of Commons on 30 October, leading one of the most anticipated fiscal events in over two decades.
A former child chess champion Reeves counts a stint at the Bank of England and four years in private-sector banking among her credentials.
She became Sir Keir Starmer’s shadow chancellor after the party's defeat in the 2021 Hartlepool by-election, and Labour’s win put her in the key position in government.
