A dayouth is a man with no sense of gheerah (protective jealousy) about his female family members -- particular his wife. He is a man who completely shirks the responsibility of qawwama. The most often highlighted among this type of man is the ultra-liberal Muslim, the Muslim male feminist -- and we can all agree on that. But the Tomassiyeen qualify for the label too, when they reject qawwama, or distort what it entails. Their ideology sees women as sexual objects who are inevitably passed around from man to man, which is about as dayouth as you can get.

The term is misapplied to husbands who allow their wives to work, go to school, participate online, or exercise -- as long as the wives are observing hijab correctly.

Essentially, a dayouth is the anti-Qawwam, and al-Hamdulillah, our Ummah does not have many such men.
