Jack and Bill Madigan from Co. Kilkenny were new entrants to dairying in spring 2020, installing a Lely robot. They started off with 70 heifers, half of which were Fleckvieh heifers imported from Austria. The farm has been bedding all cows and heifers on a combination of straw and Miscanthus so far. As part of a virtual open day the farmers give their honest experience of the past 18 months of milking with a Lely robot.
